Darkroom for Beginners –
Black-and-White Printing
Have you been shooting black-and-white film for a while and want to start making your own prints?
Learn traditional darkroom printing techniques from one of our experts.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with your very own hand-made black-and-white prints.
What You’ll Learn:
Darkroom safety and setup essentials
How to prepare your chemicals (developer, stop bath, fixer)
Types of photographic paper (silver gelatin) and their differences
How to make a contact sheet from your negatives
How to use a test strip to determine the correct exposure time
Basic dodging and burning techniques
Hands-on printing from your own negatives — and yes, you’ll take your prints home
Tips and guidance to improve your results
We Provide:
All the necessary chemicals
Practice paper (resin-coated)
Aprons and gloves
Coffee during the theory part (don’t worry, it won’t be boring 😉)
What to Bring:
Your developed black-and-white negatives.
This workshop doesn’t cover film developing — bring your negatives ready to print (Small, medium, or large format all welcome).
